Health & safety consultant

Health and Safety Consultant

As we are aware, Health & Safety is a complicated and sometimes confusing business, which is often made worse by over enthusiastic interpretation of the regulations. Bowes Logistics Training  offer the services of independent Health & Safety advice and audits which allows companies to have a fresh pair of eyes look at their operations to assist them in ensuring compliance.
Our audit service is carried out by experienced IOSH Graduate Member who has a number of years experience of  looking after Warehousing and transport organisation's Health and Safety. They take a pragmatic view to your business Health & Safety requirements. They understand that the idea is to keep your employees safe while allowing your company to operate efficiently and effectively. The audits culminate in a debrief and subsequent report. Many people have the opinion that audits of this nature are very costly and a waste of time. Finally, it is an old adage but true. Prevention is cheaper than an accident; compliance with health & safety is cheaper than a fine or compensation. Remember, if you are non-compliant no amount of insurance is likely to cover the claims. Risk Assessment is the corner stone of Health & Safety. It is there purely to ensure that employers have taken reasonable steps to reduce the likelihood of  company employees and any visitors to your business  being injured or becoming ill as a result of work activity. In some cases, specific control measures may be required, in other cases just plain old common sense. Whatever the risk, or control measures involved, it is a requirement that risk assessments are carried out, recorded and where control measures are required they are suitable and sufficient. The Health & Safety at Work Act requires that all companies have a person who is competent to carry our risk assessments.
Risk Assessments are required for all work activity and in particular specific areas of risk such as:

  • Manual handling
  • Slips, trips and falls
  • Control of substances hazardous to health
  • Display screen equipment
  • Work places offices
  • Working at heights
  • Warehouse Activities
  • Vehicle wash areas
  • Mechanical Handling equipment
  • Work Place Transport
  • Vehicle loading & unloading areas

So how can we help? We are able to provide the following assistance:

  • Give guidance on how risk assessments can be documented
  • Give assistance in analysing specific area of risk
  • Carry out an independent review of risk assessments and produce the required documentation

Bowes Logistics Training can also provide independent H&S audits of your premises and work activities with a full written report upon completion.
